For the last 15 months we’ve all been swimming in the ‘Time Soup’. What day is it? Blursday? We’ll never know. Do calendars still work? Do pants still work? What are shoes?!?

As vaccine numbers rise and the positivity rate lowers, we find ourselves preparing for re-entry into the real world again. We’re left with lessons and grief and, hopefully, some small joys and new plans for how to better take care of ourselves and each other in the after times.

It’s time again for our Media Hatchery update – Summer Edition – and we’re thrilled to be featuring some of the projects that have become so near and dear to us over the last 15 months.

First up, at 2pm, we’re doing a live test run with Peter Rogers of his new podcast format STEAL EVERY MEDIA – where improvisor hosts talk with artist guests about a favorite piece of media and what ideas improv can steal from it. This episode will feature co-host, Kevin Miller, live from Amsterdam, breaking down his favorite piece of time-related media Back to the Future ⟽

After that, we’ll preview TWO OLD CATS – a conversational podcast that delves into the experience of our U.S. Veterans and their friends and families. Hosted by Command Sergeant Major Retired, Donnie Moten – it’s a beautiful exploration of career, family, and the paths our lives take.

Then at 4pm we’ll check back in with the teachers we originally broadcast in April 2020 to see what they’ve learned throughout the pandemic and how they pivoted to TEACH IN THE TIME OF COVID. Featuring Winnie Hsia, Anuradha Naimpally, Clara Brill, and Jessica Arjet.

After a short intermission, we’ll get back on the stream around 6pm to premiere ep. 1 of GENDERBOTS – a rapid-fire conversation / research project / musical act featuring MEM’s own, Mike Ferstenfeld and everyone’s favorite clown and all around funny, caring, lovely human, Julie Moore!

And then we’re wrapping things up with some music from Stephen Robinson and a cozy chat about Time-Travel in video games.
Join us June 22nd from 2-8PM Central Moontime, right here or at twitch.tv/MakeEveryMedia to catch up with all of our Hatchlings, chat about where we are now, where we’re headed, and maybe learn how to tie our shoes again. Pants optional.

This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department and sponsored by Austin Creative Alliance.
